Boxing Preview: Beterbiev vs. Bivol 2, Dubois vs. Parker

2025-02-20 News

This weekend, the boxing world will witness a rare spectacle: two title fights on the same night—February 22 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Artur Beterbiev, the undisputed champion of the light-heavyweight division, will defend his WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO, and The Ring belts against Dmitry Bivol, just four months after their first fight, in which Bivol lost the WBA and IBO titles.

In the co-main event, Daniel Dubois will put his IBF heavyweight title on the line against WBO interim champion Joseph Parker.

Beterbiev vs. Bivol 2

Beterbiev became the first undisputed champion in the four-belt era of the light-heavyweight division after defeating Bivol to claim the remaining two titles. The undefeated fighter won the first bout via majority decision—his first professional fight not to end in a knockout—extending his record to 21 wins from 21 fights.

In their first encounter, Beterbiev delivered powerful punches that stunned his opponent and secured his victory. However, Bivol proved to be a formidable challenger, becoming the first of Beterbiev’s opponents to last all 12 rounds. The loss marked Bivol’s first professional defeat and ended his nearly eight-year reign as champion.

In this rematch, Beterbiev will be looking to defend his undisputed status, possibly aiming for a knockout to reinforce his dominance. Meanwhile, Bivol will enter the fight seeking redemption, determined to reclaim his titles and hand Beterbiev his first career loss. With lessons learned from their previous bout, Bivol will be focused on not only lasting the full 12 rounds again but also securing a decisive victory.

Dubois vs. Parker

At 27, Dubois is in excellent form, with four wins in his last five matches, including a significant victory over Anthony Joshua in his first title defense. Boasting a career record of 22 wins (21 by knockout) in 24 fights, the British fighter has the power and skill to win this match—though it won’t come without a challenge.

Parker, a former WBO champion, comes into this fight with an equally impressive record, securing five wins in his last five bouts over the past two years. The experienced Parker, considered the underdog, has 35 wins from 38 fights, with 23 knockouts to his name.

With the IBF heavyweight title on the line, Dubois hopes to extend his reign as champion after inheriting it in June 2024 when Oleksandr Usyk vacated it. A victory would solidify his standing until a worthy challenger emerges. Parker, currently the WBO interim champion, sees this as his chance to reclaim championship status.

The winner of this fight could also move closer to a shot at undisputed heavyweight glory, potentially facing Usyk for the remaining belts—though that depends on other factors aligning.
