Gabriel Jesus: The man to fire Arsenal into the top four

Still like a ghost haunting a forest, the memories for every Gunner that they were just one win from a glorious UCL return is still a hard pill to swallow. Despite the controversial and shocking exit of star forward and captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, it is hard to fathom that Mikel Arteta and Arsenal were just one win away from securing Champions League football.

 Left with just Alexandre Lacazette and youngster Eddie Nketiah as the main strikers, the Gunners’ push for a top-4 finish was only as good as it could be last season, as a 5^th place finish was all they could settle for.

A poster boy as a few will like to call it. A striker of serious calibre, something easier said than done with no Champions League football to offer.

From Liverpool’s star signing Darwin Nunes to Inter Milan’s number 10 Latauro Martinez, the list of forwards rejecting a move to the Emirates kept growing, and eventually Mikel Arteta turned attention to his old ally Gabriel Jesus to solve his central forward nemesis. A deal in the region of £45m was concluded and Mikel Arteta finally has his man.

Now the question hovering in the mind of every Arsenal faithful is if Jesus has what it takes to fill in the shoes of the NO.9 the gunners actually need.

Can Gabriel Jesus be the forward Arsenal has craved?

Aside from his existing relationship with Mikel Arteta, the Brazilian has over time shown his quality, especially how he has successfully filled in for City’s all-time top scorer Sergio Aguero. Though not with matching numbers as the Argentine, the Brazilian forward has shown he can be the go-to man for Manchester City over the years. A quality Arsenal sure lacked in decisive moments over the course of the previous campaign.

Now at Arsenal, his ability to link-up play as well as to play on the shoulder of the last defender will sure come in handy, especially with a midfielder like Martin Odegaard ready to supply the passes.

The 25-year-old’s arrival is a good thing for Arsenal. As he appears to be that extra push they may be needing to secure the long-coveted top-4 spot in the league.

  The Gunners, having shown big improvements last campaign, only to be undone without a quality forward to lead from the front, Gabriel Jesus can be the guy to score the goals needed to fire Arsenal back into the Champions League.
