Midweek Match Preview: Team News, Injuries, Betting Guide

2022-06-07 News

The International window is here and with a little peculiarity it comes as this particular window sees Countries play at least four games, after what was a long season for most football stars.

Already midway through the window, we bring you key fixtures and guides to help you make rational decisions on which team to place your smart money on.

Italy vs. Hungary

Predictions

Italy rarely lose at home and they are likely to control the match against Hungary. Both sides have scored and conceded regularly and a home win and BTTS is predicted.

 Form

Italy gave up a 1-0 lead to draw 1-1 at home with Germany last time out. Lorenzo Pellegrini gave the Azzurri the lead on 70 minutes before Italy conceded the equalizer three minutes later.

The result came before a 3-0 loss against Argentina and an away win over Turkey (3-2).

Marco Rossi’s Hungary on the other hand raced to the top of Group A3 after a 1-0 home win over England on Saturday. Dominik Szoboszlai’s second-half penalty was enough to seal all three points.

Injuries & Team News

Midfielder Nicolò Zaniolo and forwards Moise Kean and Domenico Berardi are unavailable due to injury. Hungary on the other hand, have no injuries or suspensions.

Verdict

Italy are a tough side to beat at home and they have enough quality to edge past Hungary. Both sides have found the net in recent matches and an Italian win with BTTS is likely.

Germany vs. England

Predictions

Germany showed plenty of quality in their opening Nations League match against Italy and they are strong at home. England struggled against Hungary and a home team win is likely.

Form

Germany extended their unbeaten run to ten games when they came from behind to draw 1-1 in Italy during their Nations League opener. A late Joshua Kimmich goal helped cancel out Italy’s opener.

England in what was a shocking result, lost 1-0 in Hungary in their Group A3 opener on Saturday. It’s all about bouncing back for Gareth Southgate’s side.

Injuries & Team News

Die-Mannschaft are without goalkeeper Marc-André ter Stegen and defender Matthias Ginter. For the Three Lions, defensive pair Marc Guhei and Fiakyo Tomori are in contention after recent knocks.

Verdict

Germany are on a solid unbeaten run and England are struggling for consistency away. With their home advantage, Germany can secure all three points in Munich.

Rwanda vs. Senegal

Predictions

Senegal are clear favorites and should be looking for a convincing win. With Sadio Mane coming off a hat-trick, he offers value in the goal-scoring markets.

Form

Rwanda finished bottom of their Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifying group. The only point they earned in their six matches was in a 1-1 home draw with Kenya.

Since their World Cup qualifiers ended, Rwanda have played two friendlies. They beat Guinea 3-0 away and then lost 2-0 at home to the same opposition.

The Senegalese on the other hand are flying high at the moment as they won the 2022 Africa Cup of Nations on penalties against Egypt earlier this year and last week they comfortably beat Benin 3-1 at home in their opening Africa Cup of Nations qualifier. Sadio Mane once again proved his worth by scoring a hat-trick, two of which came from the penalty spot.

Verdict

Senegal are backed to win with Sadio Mane tipped in the anytime and first goal scorer markets.

Lithuania vs. Turkey

Predictions

Turkey are far superior to Lithuania and we expect an easy win for Stefan Kuntz’s side.

Form

Lithuania failed to qualify for the World Cup, finishing last in Group C with one win and seven defeats. Their game over the weekend saw them lose to Luxembourg 2-0.

For Turkey, though they also missed out on the World cup too, their resurgence under Coach Stefan Kuntz has been a one that hasn’t gone without notice.

The Crescent-Stars won 4-0 against the Faroe Islands in the Nations League on Saturday. Cengiz Ünder, Halil Dervisoglu, Serdar Dursun and Merih Demiral were all on the score sheet.

Verdict

Turkey are expected to outclass Lithuania and dominate the match in Vilnius. We are backing the Crescent-Stars to win to nil in Vilnius.

United Arab Emirates vs. Australia

Predictions

Both sides have honestly been poor in the qualifiers but have a second chance here. We expect a low-scoring affair in Doha.

Form

United Arab Emirates failed to qualify for the World Cup directly, finishing third in Group A, a long way behind Iran and Korea Republic. Eventually, Rodolfo Arruabarrena’s side won 1-0 against the Korea Republic in the final qualifier.

Australia like UAE had a poor World Cup qualifying campaign. They finished third in Group B behind Saudi Arabia and Japan. To put matters into perspective, Graham Arnold’s side won one of their final seven qualifiers.

Verdict

UAE and Australia have a second chance after poor World Cup qualification campaigns. We are tipping the UAE in an expected low-scoring affair in Doha.
